Mount St. Mary Academy has named Samuel M. Frank as its Athletics Director. Frank will oversee all aspects of the school’s athletics program including coaches, teams, programs, and events.

A graduate of Canisius College with degrees and experience in both Sports Management and Administration, Frank served as the Assistant Athletic Director and Director of Hockey Operations for the past three school years at St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute. For two seasons, he was an assistant coach for Amherst Youth Hockey and St. Mary’s High School Varsity Hockey leagues. Frank has also worked at the Wanakah Country Club as an Assistant Golf Professional.

“I am thrilled to have Sam join the Mount St. Mary athletics program,” said Katherine Spillman, Principal.  “He champions our Catholic identity, believes in the well-rounded education of each of our young woman where every student has an opportunity to improve her athletic skills, and wants our athletics program to be rooted deeply in who we are as a community, where striving for excellence, good sportsmanship and supportive teamwork are at the heart of our play.”

Frank was chosen by a search committee consisting of Mount St. Mary Academy administrators, faculty, coaches, student-athletes and Trustees. He is committed to promoting community, teamwork, and overall well-being to Mount St. Mary students by engaging them in athletics.

“I am eager to build on the many traditions and successes of Mount St. Mary athletics,” Frank explained. “My work with our student-athletes will be aimed at providing positive experiences and empowering them to be successful in the classroom and in their chosen sport.”

Mount St. Mary Academy has a long tradition of excellence in athletics. Over the past two years, fourteen MSM seniors went on to compete in NCAA athletics, and more than 40 Thunder athletes have received All-Catholic honors. The school offers 20 different varsity and junior varsity teams. Mount St. Mary, founded in 1927 by the Sisters of St. Mary of Namur, is consistently ranked among the very top private and public high schools in Western New York.
