While most high schools learn about Ancient Greece with a textbook, a small group of Mounties had the unique opportunity to experience Greece firsthand. Last week, 23 Mounties took off for a voyage through Greece stopping at ancient sites and learning about modern culture. The trip is an annual expedition which allows students participating in the foreign language classes to explore world cultures.
The itinerary included stops in Athens, Santorini, Mycenae, and more. Students visited Olympia and raced along the original Olympic track to cross the ancient finish line. Classes in Greek cooking and traditional dance rounded out the trip.
Despite the beautiful sunsets and turquoise Aegean waters, the students returned to snowy Kenmore, but with a better understanding for Greek history and life.
