MSM’s Serve Club has announced two upcoming projects aimed at helping our local community — and one especially for the Mount St. Mary community.
From March 15-18, the group will be collecting donations of Easter candy to benefit St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy in Buffalo. Our student-volunteers help St. Luke’s each year at Easter as they prepare baskets for the children they serve. This year with the restrictions of COVID, our students can’t be physically present at St. Luke’s, but they wanted to continue their support. All the candy collected during this special drive will be delivered to St. Luke’s and included in the Easter baskets their staff will prepare.
Our Serve Club is teaming up with other area high schools on a perishable food drive to benefit the food pantries in the Ken-Ton area. Our drive will run from March 22-26, culminating with a drive-up drop-off in our front circle on March 26 from 2-6 p.m. All members of the community are invited to participate by bringing perishable food items to MSM for the drop-off event For more information or to make arrangements for a donation, please contact Mrs. Danielle Burns-Heim ’05, Serve Club Moderator.
The Club has also begun an in-school initiative called “Anonymous Note Passing.” Senior Caramia Michno introduced the idea, and it’s aimed at spreading happiness and kindness at MSM. In the coming weeks, every student at Mount St. Mary will receive a positive, encouraging and note from a Serve Club member.
