This weekend, the Varsity Basketball team traveled to New York City to play for the New York State Catholic School Class B State Championship. The Thunder played against Good Counsel School on Saturday, March 14, and won the championship with a score of 42 – 33.

The Thunder started off slow and found themselves down by 10 at half time with several players in foul trouble. The team came storming back in the second half to cut the lead to just one point heading into the fourth quarter. Senior Julie Fleming led the team with 27 points as the Thunder battled all the way back to take the win.

This is the first New York State Catholic School Class B Championship in school history for basketball.

The team next plays on March 28th in Albany for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Federation Championship. Ticket information can be found here
