Fly By Fashion, a virtual MSM student-business that delivers personalized fashion packages to customers through the use of a high-tech drone, competed in the Northeast Regionals of the Virtual Enterprises National Business Plan Competition.
The MSM presentation team, made up of seniors Kate Balcolm, Trinity Walbesser, Emily Fischer, Taylor Dawidowicz, and Carly Hudson and junior Sara Primiano, submitted a detailed, written business plan and made an oral presentation to a panel of judges. Fly By Fashion’s presentation included the firm’s virtual sales to date, which exceed $600,000, its marketing plan, sales projections, and SWOT analysis.
Noting that the fashion industry is one of the world’s top polluters, Fly By Fashion executives are proud to offer drone delivery, which decreases its carbon footprint, and upcycling as a new corporate venture.
Fly By Fashion is made up of 21 MSM students who work in the areas of merchandising, marketing and digital media, finance, sales, design, human resources and public relations.
The Mount St. Mary Academy Scholars program offers students the opportunity to create and run a variety of their own small businesses. Our students are affiliated with two international programs: Virtual Enterprises International and Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship. They’ve competed to great success locally, regionally, nationally, internationally – and virtually, during this time of COVID. Collectively, our entrepreneurs have networked with fellow teen and adult entrepreneurs, corporate and nonprofit executives, academics, elected officials and international leaders. Most importantly, they have developed the creativity, leadership, problem-solving and communication skills.
