In a time when many school districts are cutting back on music programs, Robby Takac is speaking out about the impact music has had on his life.
The lead bassist and founder of the Goo Goo Dolls took some time out to talk with several Mount St. Mary Academy journalist students .
“I’m pretty much a great example of the things that music can bring into your life,” Robby told student-reporters recently. “I wasn’t great at sports, I wasn’t great at debate club. I wasn’t all that scholarly, but music allowed me to do all those things.”
Seniors Sarah Brill, Sarah Cohn, Brianna Kincaid and sophomore Emma Murphy had the opportunity to meet with Robby at his recording studio, GCR Studios, as part of their journalism class and a unique program designed by their teacher, Tim O’Shei.
The program, entitled “Live! Starring… You!”, provides interview training and multi-media journalism experience while also delving into the true life of a red-carpet walker. Live! Starring…You! alumnae have interviewed local and national celebrities, including America Ferrera, Dancing With The Stars’ professionals Tony Dovolani, Maks Chmerkovskiy, and Val Chmerkovskiy, and Pretty Little Liars’ star Troian Bellisario.
