The sun was shining as the Thunder looked to avenge last season’s loss in the finals to Sacred Heart Academy as they had a rematch in the MML Semi-Finals. The game started off close, with the Thunder leading 2-1 with 18:23 left in the first half. After a timeout, the Thunder came out flying and went on 7-2 run at half time.

Senior Captain Catherine Meegan, scored her 100 career goal during the game to help take the Thunder to the Finals. This is the 11th consecutive trip to the Finals in women’s lacrosse for the Mount. The Thunder will take on Nardin Academy in the championship at 4:15 pm on Friday, May 29 at Nichols School.

MSM Athletics will be sponsoring a tailgate with free pizza and face paint for all students and faculty attending the game. The tailgate will be at Delaware Park near the Tennis Courts beginning at 3:30pm. We will all walk across the street together for the game at 4:00pm. There is an admission fee of $3 for students, and $5 for adults for the game. Wear your royal blue!

Catherine Meegan joined her teammates Olivia Macdonald and Elise Kreuz and became the sixth lacrosse player in school history to join the “100 Goal Club.” Catherine finished the game with 4 goals and 2 assists. Currently Catherine is sixth in all time scoring for Mount St. Mary Lacrosse with 102 career goals with one game remaining in the season. Current 100 Goal Club Members include: Sara (Slovick) Eaton ’07 – 161 goals, Shannon Pelitera ’13 – 132 goals, Olivia Macdonald ’15 – 121 goals, Jordan Gerst ’09 – 104 goals, and Elise Kreuz ’15 – 103 goals.

Congratulations to the team and Catherine on this amazing accomplishment!
