Three Mount St. Mary Academy students were recognized as All-WNY Scholar Athletes for the Winter 2015-16 season by Section VI of the NYSPHSAA for their athletic and academic accomplishments.
Danielle Cunliffe is a two-time All-WNY Scholar Athlete, honored for soccer and now bowling. Danielle is the two year Captain of the Bowling Team. Her best match was week three against Mount Mercy when she led the team with a 521 series. She currently serves as Treasurer of our 100-student Marching and Concert Bands, as well as Section Leader of the Flutes and Saxophones.
Maeve Christ is co-captain of the MMHSAA girls’ ice hockey team and starting defenseman. She has 4 goals and 7 assists in 13 games played this season Maeve is an “offensive” defenseman. She will play Division III hockey at Holy Cross in the 2016-17 school year. Maeve will graduate with eight AP and college level courses.
Marissa Saber serves as Indoor Track team captain and is a 4-year varsity runner in all 3 seasons. She currently holds school records in the 4×400, 4×800 and long distance medley relay and has qualified for Indoor State championship competitions for the third consecutive year. She has completed seven AP and college level courses.
Section VI of the NYSPHSAA additionally recognized four Mounties as Honorable Mentions: Kimberly Fohrd, Francesca Gugino, Rachel Joachimi, and Megan Rooney.
