Mount St. Mary Academy was delighted to welcome a new kitchen service for the second semester of the 2019-2020 academic year. Our students, faculty, staff and visitors will now enjoy the work of 716 Fresh, a locally owned business committed to fresh, organic, locally sourced food that’s both healthy and tasty.
716 Fresh provides healthy breakfast and lunch options using locally sourced foods and, whenever possible, made-from-scratch menu items. The team is conscious of and works to provide options for the varied needs of our students with dietary restrictions, food allergies and the like without compromising the value or creativity of the meal.
“We want to change the face of school lunches, bringing healthy options instead of stuff out of the freezer,” Head Chef Austin Crist said shortly after the 716 Fresh team got settled into the MSM kitchen in late January. “The students were just amazed that we had real food. And so many options. And so much food!”
Here is a short list of what makes 716 Fresh different from the other guys. Which would you prefer? Check out our website for more information. http://www.716fresh.com/
There are a variety of grab-and-go options for students outside of designated lunch periods or students with limited time during those periods. The 716 Fresh chefs are also working with the student entrepreneurs who are running the school’s ThunderZone to provide healthy meals and snacks for students and guests after school.
To add to the benefits of this new partnership, 716 Fresh is committed to the well-being of our planet, making an effort to replace single-use dishware and plasticware with more environmentally friendly options.
MSM administrators are confident this is going to make a positive impact on our school community and improve the wellness of our students.
“We find the best possible options for our students,” Business Director Anne Kohl ’84 said. “This is probably the best in the area.”
